My training includes somatic therapy, a trauma-informed practice which works with the mind and body to surface and heal unconscious wounds that keep us locked in negative patterns. Neuroscience research has proposed that the unconscious makes up 95% of our mind and informs how we interact with the issues that come up in our daily lives. Much of the unconscious carries our wounding - our stories from our past (or our family’s past) that live in our bodies as thoughts, feelings and sensations. They carry us into stuck behaviours, identities and patterns that we are not aware of, leaving us feeling powerless.

We can look and feel through these parts together. Sometimes it’s scary and overwhelming to to do it alone. Sometimes the roots are so deep, we can’t get to them ourselves and we need help to pull them to the surface of our awareness through various tools, depending on what is needed. I can help you go beneath the surface to safely engage with these wounds so that they can be expressed and released. You will always be in the driver’s seat about the pace and the direction we go in our sessions. Feelings of safety and trust are important to me. I will listen carefully to what you’re saying with non-judgement and an openness to who you are and your views about life.

I am mindful of listening very intentionally with a neuroscience lens during both talk therapy and somatic therapy, and have received feedback from clients that the sessions feel more insightful and have catalyzed more change than therapy they have received in the past.

When I work with couples, the emphasis is on how each person’s wounding and patterning impacts each other. If the focus is simply on who’s “right” or “wrong”, the couple may stay stuck in patterns of arguing over the same issues repeatedly, even in therapy. My sessions aim to be supportive of each person’s individual journey so that they can learn how to meet each other’s needs while still meeting their own. I understand how vulnerable it can be to come to therapy, and I do my best to ensure both individuals feel seen and heard during the session.

I can support you in exploring the many questions that may arise on your journey…

  • How do I engage with others from a truthful place and how do I know when it’s safe?

  • When do I run away from deep communication?

  • Why do I struggle making decisions?

  • Do I overwhelm others with my needs or am I able to come to them from a centered, aligned place?

  • How can I trust others if I don’t trust myself?

  • What parts of myself are so in conflict that they keep me stuck in a loop or inaction, or locked in certain patterns and behaviours?

  • What parts of myself do I ignore or run away from by escaping into toxic behaviours?

I am also a meditation teacher and Reiki Master, and am able to work with and explore your spiritual beliefs with a mind, body, soul perspective as a path to healing if you chose to incorporate this into your session. We may still address all the questions listed above, but may include a holistic approach to them that aligns with your spiritual beliefs.

I am also a writer and have a background in theatre, and work with many actors, writers and those in the film industry who need help to address creative blocks, burnout and anxiety.
