About Renu….

I was born and raised in Prince George, BC, Canada. Growing up as a settler in the 80s and 90s, I faced many of the common challenges of a second generation immigrant which very much shaped who I am today. As a young adult, I moved to Vancouver and trained to be an English teacher.

Teaching opened the door for me to move to the UK for several years to work at quite challenging secondary schools in London, and from there I had the opportunity to travel and explore my passion for writing in different places and cultures.

Counselling has always been part of my path in one way or another, whether it be through my students, their parents, or holistic body-based healing modalities that incorporated neuroscience. Training to be a psychotherapist therefore seemed like a natural next step.

Various identities throughout my life have shaped me, but if I were to choose one it would be that of the Seeker. As a highly sensitive, introverted child I searched for truth and meaning in my loved ones, books, song lyrics, and nature. As an adult I have learned (and am still learning) to draw that search into my Self - body, mind, and soul. It is a humble and challenging practice to go Within, to notice what patterns have been created, consciously or unconsciously, and to discern what needs to be accepted, transformed, or released. That seeking, more than any meditation practice, becomes a holy experience when truth is felt through our own inner work. When seeking becomes knowing, we can perhaps be led closer to peace, wholeness, and acceptance, even when the external world has its own way of greeting us.

What I can bring to my clients, more than any training or professional experience, is a vast depth of life experience – my personal engagement with the journey itself that at times has been arduous and required a great amount of self-examination and soul-searching. I understand what it means to feel humbled by life’s challenges and my own shortcomings, so I have a great amount of compassion for the experiences of others. And I am still doing the self-work daily because I know the path requires it.

So with humility, what I can offer to my clients is not just what I know, but the courage and willingness to descend into the unknown alongside them as an experienced facilitator and compassionate witness.
